DIY Information, Advice & News For All

I have recently moved into a small terrace house and the first thing that i did was empty the house bare and think of ways to make the most of the space in my house and to have more room space. I had a beautiful marble fireplace but it took up so much room and made my living room look small and crammed.
I was considering not having a fireplace at all because of space issues but i love a fire as it gives every room an instant cosy effect and brings in comfort. So not a happy girl i chipped away at my newly fitted fireplace and replaced with a flat, mirrored effect fireplace that was placed in the middle of the wall and wow i was impressed with the results! It kind of gives the illusion of a flat TV hanging on the wall. Just by changing my fire to one that is placed on the wall it has made my room look 10 times bigger and because of the mirrored effect it opens up my living room.
I would highly recommend to anyone with a small living room to go for this style fireplaces and not for a fire that has a surround as it is surprising just how much space this wastes.
A bonus is that these fires are easily installed anywhere that you have a gas line.
